Info | Brian Pettyjohn was born in Sussex County and raised on a farm outside of Georgetown. His family lineage can be traced back to the 1700's, and the State of Delaware bought land from his ancestors to build the Town of Georgetown. Brian graduated from Sussex Central High School, and after graduation moved to the Newark, DE area to attend the University of Delaware. Afterwards, he started his professional career in that area, moving back to Sussex County in 2001.
Brian served on his Homeowners Association board before joiining the Georgetown Town Council in 2008. In 2010, Brian was successful in running for Mayor of Georgetown, defeating his opponent by a 17-1 margin. Brian serves on the board of directors of Children and Families First (www.cffde.org), a state-wide non-profit agency that helps families develop solutions to meet challenges and embrace opportunities. Brian also serves on the board of the Chad Spicer Foundation, a recently formed non-profit organization that is chartered to assist families of first responders who have experienced traumatic events.
Brian also had memberships in the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, Delaware League of Local Government, and the Sussex County Association of Towns, where he served as Vice President.
