Info | Mike Mosher was born in Colorado and grew up in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from high school in El Paso in 1968 and attended the University of Texas at El Paso where he received an academic scholarship and graduated with honors in 1973 with a degree in English.
Between high school and college, and during the summers while in college, Mike worked at a variety of jobs to support himself and pay for his education. His jobs included work as a cement finisher, a roughneck on a drill rig, driving a 35 ton dump truck at an open pit mine and working on a survey crew surveying streets and subdivisions. In his senior year at UTEP he received his University's nomination for the prestigious Danforth Graduate Fellowship.
After graduation, he attended graduate school at UTEP for a year where he also taught English on a Teaching Assistantship. The following year he moved to New York to write a novel. While in New York he worked first as a waiter, then managed a restaurant in Grand Central Station and finally, he worked for the Social Security Administration in the South Bronx.
In the Fall of 1978 he returned to Texas to study law at the University of Texas in Austin where he graduated with honors in May, 1981. After gradation he accepted a position with the New York City law firm of Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays & Handler where he worked in the litigation and anti-trust departments. In 1987 he bought a ranch in Red River County and then returned to Texas with the Dallas law firm of Bickel & Brewer. He worked with several law firms in Dallas, and was a partner in the firm of Ginsberg & Brusilow before going out on his own in 1990. In the Fall of 1991 he moved his practice to Paris, Texas where he has remained. He and his most of his family--his wife Helen and their two boys Roland and Aidan--live on South Main in Paris. His daughter, Elizabeth, is a freshman at the University of Texas where she is on the rowing team.
