InfoI’m William Edstrom and I’m the Green Party candidate for New York State Assembly in the 80th Assembly District. The 80th Assembly District covers the Allerton, Pelham Parkway, Morris Park & Mosholu Parkway areas of the Bronx, NY, USA.

If elected, I will write the bills and do the work needed to pass & fund these bills to provide a cleaner environment, social justice and a good economy for all. Some examples include:

* free subways, free buses, free Metro North trains & free LIRR trains

* create jobs

* cleaner air & cleaner water; less asthma & less cancer

* fair taxes

* Healthcare that is 100% free-of-charge, 100% of the time for 100% of the people; no more co-pays, no more donut holes, no more deductibles, no more premiums; Open Enrollment Medicaid for All

* truly affordable housing: $16 billion to NYCHA to hire 80,000 construction workers to build 800,000 new apartments

* end homelessness

* improve the quality of education for children, limit class size to 23 children per class max

* a Social Security minimum of $1,500 a month plus annual cost-of-living increases; New York State Social Security Supplements so that Social Security is a minimum of $1,500 a month plus annual cost-of-living increases; restore the retirement age to 62 years old

* a minimum wage of $10 an hour plus annual cost-of-living increases

* a $50,000 income tax standard deduction

* apply the sales tax to sales that happen on Wall Street too (sales of stocks, sales of bonds, sales of bundled mortgages, sales of credit default swaps, etc.)

* end tax loopholes

* pay off the debt

* lower energy bills

* build wind turbine farms, solar panel farms, hydrogen fuel plants, ethanol fuel plants & new filling stations offering ethanol fuel & hydrogen fuel so that vehicles that take ethanol (about $3 per gallon) can fill up & so that vehicles that take clean air hydrogen fuel can fill up; creating tens of thousands of more jobs by doing this; exporting excess energy production capacity; increasing prosperity here

* ban hydrofracking in the State of New York

* build 50 new medical schools at CUNY & SUNY campuses; create over ten thousand more jobs in New York by doing this

* build a dozen new generic drug factories in New York; create thousands of more jobs in NY

* devote 1% of the State budget to medical research to discover new medicines & new cures; create thousands of more jobs in NY

* full employment

* pass State Assembly Resolutions calling on Congress to cancel our membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and to re-negotiate Free Trade Agreements (FTA’s); thereby creating tens of millions of jobs in the United States of America (USA #1)

* put an end to ‘stop & frisk’; insure greater respect for the Bill of Rights and for the Constitution of the United States of America by increasing the penalties on those who violate the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, include 4 weeks of Constitutional Rights Protection training in an updated curriculum at Police Academies and establish a Constitutional Rights Unit within State, City and County Police Departments to investigate crimes against the Bill Of Rights & Constitution and to enforce new laws to strengthen our protections and our liberties guaranteed to us under the Bill of Rights and under the Constitution of the United States of America. USA# 1.

* allow student loans to be fully discharged in bankruptcy court

* free public elementary schools, free public high schools, free community colleges, free public colleges & free public universities (free CUNY & free SUNY)

* pro-Democracy; updating ballot access laws so that political parties will have ballot status upon achieving 25,000 or more votes in the Gubernatorial election; updating access laws so that no more than 100 voter signatures are needed on voter petitions for a candidate to be on the ballot, more democracy for New Yorkers on Election Day & more democracy for New Yorkers every day

* more government accountability & greater transparency so that we can all see what our government is doing; increase both funding and human resources at the Attorney General’s Office to more effectively investigate and prosecute corrupt government officials

* financial sector accountability, protecting pensions, protecting bank accounts & protecting New Yorkers; increase both funding and human resources at the Attorney General’s Office to more effectively investigate and prosecute financial crimes; pension funds especially need to be protected

* safe streets & safe neighborhoods

* more freedom & more liberty

* cleaner environment, social justice & a good economy for all
