Before winning the election for Circuit Court Judge on November 2010, Karen Gievers was previously a candidate for FL State Treasurer in 1994 and FL Secretary of State in 1998.
Ms. Gievers has successfully represented children who were abused while in the custody of Florida's Department of Children & Families.

Education
Gievers received her B.A. in Economics from Florida International University in 1975. She earned her J.D. from the University of Miami Law School in 1978. [2]

Career
Gievers has spent 23 years in solo practice

Among Karen's many honors, here are a few that stand out:

The Dade County Mothers Against Drunk Driving Award, 1993

The Sharon Soloman Child Advocate of Valor Award, presented by the Florida Center for Children and Youth, 1992

"Woman of the Year" by Florida Business and Professional Women, 1988

Karen is a Member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and a co-Founder of Florida's Children First.

In 1997 Karen climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise $30,000 for foster children.
