Info | 2018 marks Gaylon’s fourth attempt at winning election to the United States Congress.
In 2016 Gaylon was the Libertarian nominee for the 3rd Congressional District (18,903; 5%) and in 2014 was the Libertarian nominee for the United States Senate (52,876; 2.6%). His 2014 vote total was then a record for third-party candidates in a Colorado United States Senate election. In 2012 Gaylon lost a primary to Greg Gilman for the 3rd Congressional District seat.
Gaylon served America honorably – if utterly without distinction – in the United States Navy (1983-87), serving in an old diesel submarine, the USS Blueback (SS-581). He still serves in the American Legion and is commander of both Post 44 in Steamboat Springs and District 14. He is also a member of Sons of the American Legion Squadron 89 in Hayden, where he lives with his wife Marian.
Gaylon has written eleven books and writes assorted columns for his website www.gaylonkent.net. He earns a living as a hotel night auditor and also works part-time at Walmart. In past lives, he was, among other things, a radio announcer, newspaper reporter and has also worked hotel/casino security in Las Vegas. Gaylon is a 2003 and 1998 graduate of the Harry Wendelstedt School for Umpires and is an accomplished high school sports official.
In his spare time, he enjoys doing things with his wife, reading and weightlifting. Gaylon is originally from Los Angeles and is self-educated.
