Silver Dime (aka Gold) is the Libertarian candidate for OC President. He considered running as a Republican to challenge Conservative for America representing the Gary Johnson/Ron Paul wing of the GOP but instead decided to run Libertarian as Karma beat him to it.

In 2004, long before Silver Dime joined OC he supported Independent Ralph Nader at the time for President as a 10 year old mostly based on the Iraq War. He disliked George W. Bush for starting the war and John Kerry for voting for the war.
Silver Dime later liked a lot of Republican rhetoric about Ronald Reagan causing him to be a "Republican who just hated wars."
When Ron Paul ran in 2008, Silver Dime became less conservative and more libertarian as time went on till 2011.
Silver Dime wanted Ron Paul to win the GOP nomination. Although, he breifly supported John McCain to defeat Mitt Romney. Silver Dime wanted John Edwards to win the Democratic nomination in 2008 because Edwards struck him as an honest guy. If he had to do it over though, he would have support Mike Gravel or Dennis Kucinich.
In the '08 General Election, Silver Dime was split between Barack Obama and John McCain but briefly supported Obama because he seemed Anti-War and he unlike McCain didn't choose Sarah Palin. But, when both guys supported the Wall Street bailout, Silver Dime wanted to write-in Ron Paul if he could vote. He later also became skeptical of Obama's intention to go into Afghanistan.

Also in 2008, Silver Dime supported Republican Jeff Beatty against Democrat John Kerry for the Mass. senate race mostly on the grounds that Beatty was tough on John Kerry's Iraq vote.

In 2012, Silver Dime orginally supported Ron Paul but later switched to Gary Johnson in the GOP primary. He still supported Johnson when he became a Libertarian.

Silver Dime is best known on the site for creating the Polar INC candidate which later became one of the big site jokes next to Golok, MassRep, and Matty.

Positions:
Abortion: Used to be solidly Pro-life but is now a moderate on the issue. He opposes all public abortion funds, and all abortions past trimester 1 but favors government out of early term abortion. He mostly believes being pro-life is a personal responsibility and not a government mandate. Hence, "Pro-life, yet Pro-choice."
Marriage: Used to oppose Gay Marriage but now supports it. Supports states' rights on polygamy.
Guns: Has historically been mostly pro-gun. Despite personally supporting gun rights, he is also open to states' rights concerning the issue.
Affirmative Action: Breifly supported at one point but now strongly opposes for it's unfair advantages based only on things people can't control.
Wars: Supports humble foreign policy of non-intervention.
Weed: Used to oppose legalization but now supports it.
Death Penalty: Used to somewhat support but now opposes even on terrorists.
Term Limits: Supports.
Taxes: Supports 20% Flat Tax. Also supports some aspects of FairTax.
FED: Supports ending the Federal Reserve and supports exploring a return to a gold and silver standard.
Social Security: Supports a private option.
Minimum Wage: Believes is a state issue.
Immigration: No fence. Too much government deporting people.

Also, the name "Silver Dime" is inspired by Ron Paul who said at the GOP Tea Party debate 9/12 "You can buy a gallon of gasoline for a silver dime, a silver dime is worth $3.50. It's all about inflation and too much regulation."

Silver Dime met Gary Johnson on 4/15/12.
