InfoRichard C. Wager is a native of Hyde Park, NY and a seventh generation resident of Dutchess County. Rich’s grandmother was the first woman realtor in the Hudson Valley and his father was the Publisher of the Poughkeepsie Journal for 40 years.

Rich holds a law degree and a MBA from Fordham University and served in the administrations of New York City mayors Rudolph W. Giuliani and Michael R. Bloomberg, where he specialized in economic development and strategic restructuring of government systems. Mr. Wager is now a consultant with an investment management firm that oversees $13 billion in assets.

Rich has had a life-long interest in public service. After graduating from Providence College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, he joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, where he took a vow of poverty and dedicated almost three years of his life to the challenges affecting some of our nation’s poorest residents. He has remained committed to volunteer service and serves as a board officer of an affordable housing program in Birmingham, Alabama, a board member of the Dutchess County based non-profit, Hudson River Housing and the Hudson Valley Greenway Conservancy, which works toward the preservation of the scenic, natural, historic and agricultural resources of the Hudson Valley.

Mr. Wager, 40, is married to Margaret Johnson Wager, 32, and they have two children, Elizabeth, 2, and Scott, 4 months. They share a home in the Village of Millbrook in the Town of Washington.

Mr. Wager and his three sisters, Kathy, Tricia, and Sarah, all attended Hyde Park public schools. At Providence College, Mr. Wager played Division I tennis and considered a career in that sport. He is an avid runner and ran the 2006 New York City Marathon, raising money for Parkinson’s disease in the process.
