Why Are You Running?:
As a Libertarian all my life I have always been vocal about issues surrounding the freedom of choice and liberty. I have always stood up for what Libertarians believe is fair and just and feel that now is the time to put my name on the ballot. There are many who are Libertarian minded or who just plain feel that Government spending and intervention is stifling and must be stopped and I want those people in my riding to have someone to vote for.
Your Top Issue:
Limited Government
Issue Details:
Living in a rural area of the Windsor-Tecumseh riding, the impact of the construction of tax payer subsidized energy projects is unavoidable. After reviewing the details of this scheme with the vendors (who are making money hand over fist from this Government handout), it is clear that these projects can only increase the cost of electricity to users, increase the Provincial debt or increase taxation as the energy is being generated and sold at a 94% loss. Ontarians need choice in the energy sector provided by competition, as well as in every other service currently monopolized by the Government. The burden of Government regulation on private companies stifles technological advancements and forces the implementation of inferior products while limiting choices to consumers. In the automotive industry alone, de-regulation could immediately provide leaps in fuel efficiency while improving performance all while reducing the cost of vehicles to consumers. There are many other important issues that need to be addressed including property rights, privacy rights, the ever growing police and nanny state, Government accountability, Health Care, taxation and many others.
