InfoTom Berry is a 63 year old expert on rail and intermodal safety law and operations.
Berry has served as expert witness before federal and state agencies, and legislative committees and panels with oversight and regulatory power over all modes of transportation. These include the Federal Railroad Administration, the Federal Highway Administration, OSHA, EPA and EEOC.

During his 44 years experience in long distance passenger, commuter and freight operations on Greater Chicago Area mainlines he co-founded AMTRAK-for-Profit, a coalition in Washington formed to force the nation's passenger train system to use modern technology to improve its loss-to-profit margins.

Berry has served in a variety of official capacities. In addition to expert witness and analyst, he has served as State Legislative Director for Illinois and Chairman of Local 528(20 years) of the nation's largest rail union, the United Transportation Union. Berry appeared many times before the old Interstate Commerce Commission and in matters now before its successor agency, the (national) Surface Transportation Board. He is no stranger to the inner workings of management and labor in transportation, and is a respected theorist in the field of mergers, acquisitions, and law.

Berry is a Fenwick High School Graduate, and attended St. Mary's College (Winona, MN), Wright Jr. College, DePaul and Loyola Universities, and the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a background in economics, labor law, political science, and labor education. He also served in the U.S. Navy aboard ship on the Cuban blockade, was qualified as a U.S. Navy Instructor, and is presently a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Tom Berry served 25 years as a Democratic Precinct Committeeman in York Township, is a former member of the York Township Democratic Organization, and served on the executive board of the DuPage County Democratic Party. He was the Democratic nominee for U.S. Congress (6th District) in 1994 and was endorsed, among others, by AFL-CIO, United Transportation Union, American Federation of Teachers, United Electrical Workers, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and National Organization for Women.
