Family: Divorced. Two daughters, two grandsons.
Quality and accessibility of health-care services: "Stop the hypocrisy about a two-tier system. Health should not be restricted to a government monopoly with long waiting lists and unnecessary deaths. Deregulate so that Medicare dollars can be freed up (for everyone who needs access.) Of course, stopping the prohibition of marijuana makes it legally available for valuable medical uses without covert, criminal behaviour."
Protecting the environment: "The fact that hemp is prohibited from cultivation in Canada causes untold environmental harm and degradation. Hemp is a great source for papermaking: it grows in one year versus 20-40 for forests, does not require toxic chemicals and bleaches for paper production, and of course is renewable (does not deprive us of old growth forests or spotted owls)."
Tax reduction: "Remove income taxes, federally. A minimal government would not require much money. Money for essential government services such as defence, police and courts can be collected voluntarily, through lotteries and user-pay systems as GST."
Representing B.C. interests in Ottawa: "Once marijuana is decriminalized Canada-wide, examine other counterproductive and meaningless laws and regulations that should be scrapped; and entrench property rights in Canada."
