InfoA lifelong Queens resident, Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder was elected to the 23rd Assembly District in September 2011. The 23rd Assembly District, located in Southwest Queens, includes the neighborhoods of Ozone Park, Lindenwood, Howard Beach, Broad Channel and the Rockaways.

Assemblyman Goldfeder’s career in public service began as a community liaison for the New York City Council. One of his first and most memorable actions was successfully collaborating with elected officials and the Department of Transportation to address speeding and unsafe traffic conditions in front of local schools and senior living facilities.

Prior to his election to the New York State Assembly, Assemblyman Goldfeder worked in the Mayor’s Office and for Senator Charles E. Schumer.

As the Mayor’s representative to the borough of Queens, Mr. Goldfeder was tasked with conducting an ongoing assessment of the needs of Queens. His efforts resulted in accessibility to city agencies and services, numerous successful rezoning projects and attention to long overlooked issues, including flooding in Broad Channel and diverse training opportunities for lifeguards to protect our beaches.

In his role with Senator Schumer, Assemblyman Goldfeder joined in the community fight to protect residency discounts for the Cross Bay Bridge through federal legislation, addressed emergency beach erosion caused by heavy storms and spearheaded a task force to address community concerns at Riis Park and Floyd Bennett Field.

Assemblyman Goldfeder was born and raised in the Far Rockaway neighborhood of Queens and graduated from CUNY Brooklyn College. Assemblyman Goldfeder currently lives in Far Rockaway with his wife and their two young children.
