InfoNORMA A. CUSICK

RESIDENCE: Salisbury Township

PARTY: Republican

EXPERIENCE: Member Lehigh County Authority; Salisbury Township commissioner, planning commissioner, school board member

I give my pledge to the taxpayers of Lehigh County that as commissioner-at-large I will not vote for any and all proposed tax increases in 2012.

From 2001 media article [Link] ...
"Norma A. Cusick will make a second attempt to win the Democratic nomination for the 131st state House seat next year.

In 2000, Cusick came within 400 votes of capturing the nomination from Peter J. Antonsen in a bid to unseat the district's Republican incumbent, four-term Rep. Pat Browne. About 2,500 votes were cast.

Cusick, 57, was elected to the Salisbury Township School Board in 1989 and served as a school director for two terms. In 1999, she ran unsuccessfully for Lehigh County register of wills.

Her husband of 35 years, Democrat Richard J. Cusick, 56, a medical examiner, also has felt the lure of politics. He ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for 15th Congressional District in 1984, for district justice in 1987 and for the U.S. Senate in 1998.

Norma Cusick was a division director for the American Heart Association and worked as an events planning consultant for Allentown's Downtown Improvement District Authority.

She now works as a substitute teacher in several local school districts and as the business manager of her husband's medical practice, which they run out of their home, 535 E. Emmaus Ave., in Salisbury. She has been a resident of the 131st District for 28 years."
