InfoCongressman Stump's Chief of Staff

As an Arizona native, Lisa Atkins combines a well-rounded understanding of the State with more than 20 years of service as Chief of Staff to Congressman Bob Stump (R-3 AZ).

While her responsibilities include the overall operation of Congressman Stump's Washington and Arizona offices, Lisa is heavily involved in legislative issues, working closely with State and local governments, and a wide variety of associations and citizen groups. Although best known for her expertise with land and water issues, she has been recognized for her leadership on a wide variety of issues involving federal, state and local governments and agencies. In 1993, Lisa was part of the International Republican Institute's Campaign Training Mission, a group of Americans selected to go to Poland to teach elections and campaigns as that country continued its emergence from dictatorship to democracy.

Lisa graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in Political Science, where her studies included an internship for the President of the Arizona State Senate. Lisa was an active member of the campaign that elected Bob Stump to Congress in 1976, and was part of the "start up staff" that set up shop in Washington for the 95th Congress. She served as Legislative Assistant to the Congressman until she was named Chief of Staff in late 1979.

Lisa is well respected in the Arizona community for her involvement in Charter 100, Leadership West, Arizona Town Hall, and West Valley Republican Women. She serves on the Boards of the Challenger Space Science Center of Arizona, the West Valley Fine Arts Council, Fighter Country Partnership and WESTMARC, and is a former member of the YMCA's Youth and Government Board. Governor Symington appointed her to the Commission on the Arizona Environment, where she served as Vice Chairman. Lisa has also served on Governor Hull's Water Management Commission, as well as the Governor's Transportation Vision 21 Task Force.

Lisa Atkins was born in Phoenix, Arizona, at the old St. Joseph's Hospital on June 20, 1953. She and her husband, John, reside in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
