Info | Joseph Szafarowicz has been a resident of Charlton all of his life. Being a lifelong local, Joe went through the Dudley-School System for pre-secondary education. For High School, Joe attended Bay Path Vocational in the machine shop program. He graduated valedictorian of his class. Joe is currently a freshman at WPI where he is dual majoring in Mechanical and Civil Engineering. In addition to school, he is also working part time as a machinist at IPG Photonics.
Joe has been ambitious and determined throughout his childhood and young adulthood. In High School, he did numerous activities and participated in many events. If asked what club he was in, the list would be shorter if it was a list of the clubs he was not a part of. And if asked who was the captain or president of the clubs he was in, the list would be almost as long as the number of the clubs themselves. He captained the Bay Path Robotics team, served on the class steering committee, was the student representative to the school committee, and was a part of whatever else he could fit into his schedule. Even now, Joe is taking fencing at college and is the president of that club too.
Joe is very passionate when it comes to politics –especially when concerning Charlton. Joe is completely committed to serving the people of Charlton with a full arsenal of leadership skills and problem solving abilities. Joe takes great pride in being able to diagnose a problem, work through it, look at many points of view, consider the advice and concerns of all the people involved, and come to a logical and practical solution that will benefit the town. He looks forward to working with, not only the other Selectmen, but all the other boards of the town and schools. He wants to keep good relations with Representative [Durant] and Senator Brewer so Charlton‘s voice can be heard in Boston.
