InfoBusinessman & Son of State Senate Majority Leader Walker

Born and raised in Augusta, Charles Walker, Jr. lives just a few blocks from his childhood home with his wife Wren and his three daughters: Paris, Jazmine, and Sidney. He grew up volunteering on his fathers political campaigns and helping out at the family business. He launched his own career as an entrepreneur in his first year at Fort Valley State College, opening a convenience store and then a nightclub that sought to bring together young people from different racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Motivated by his desire to spread opportunity across Georgia, Champ founded Young Entrepreneurs & Associates, a group that provided college students with both business lessons and entrepreneurial experiences. Then, based on his successful blueprint for connecting ideas and investors, he founded Bright Ideas Consulting, a business development and investment firm that helps people who start out with just an idea and dream. Bright Ideas connects people with investors and gives them advice on managing a company. In addition, Champ advises and serves on the Boards of a wide range of business ventures.

Throughout his career as a businessman, Champ has devoted time and energy to the Augusta community. He serves as a spokesman and fundraiser for the United Way and is a Preacher-in-Training at the Interdenominational Theology Center. And he has always worked to bring people together. He first co-founded The Augustans, a group of young people working to make Augusta a more diverse and tolerant city. More recently, he founded Next Generation, an organization of young professionals dedicated to improving Augustas image and economy. Champ is also the creator of the Heritage Crest, a worldwide symbol of racial unity that has been endorsed by civil rights and religious organizations
representing more than 40 million people. Champs Heritage Unity Festival has attracted more than 30,000 people from all walks of life. In 1999, in recognition Champs commitment to tolerance and understanding, the Crest was inducted into the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.
