John J. Blaine in 1921; delegate to the International Conference on the St. Lawrence Deep Waterway between the United States and Canada, in 1921, and to the Mississippi Valley Conference on Mississippi River Improvement, in 1921; served in the State senate 1925-1929; elected as a Progressive to the Seventy-fourth and Seventy-fifth Congresses (January 3, 1935-January 3, 1939); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1938 to the Seventy-sixth Congress; elected to the Seventy-seventh and Seventy-eighth Congresses (January 3, 1941-January 3, 1945); was not a candidate for renomination in 1944, but was unsuccessful for election to the United States Senate on the Progressive ticket; resumed the practice of law until his retirement in 1955; died in Madison, Wis., on June 16, 1966; interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
