| Info | Karin was born and raised in South St. Paul and graduated from SSP High School in 1982. She received a B.A. in Communications from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Karin worked as a TV news producer after college, went on to host a radio show, wrote an investment book and eventually owned a successful real estate business.
Karin married her high school sweetheart, Phil Housley, in 1985. Karin and Phil have four children: three girls and a boy. Taylor, Reide, Wilson and Avery range in age from 31 to 20. They also have two grandchildren.
The Housleys spent 20 years moving and working all over the United States and Canada due to Phil's NHL Hall of Fame hockey career, but kept Minnesota as their "forever home" in the St. Croix River Valley. They have experienced many different school environments, communities, health care systems and facilities. In 2012, Karin was elected to the Minnesota State Senate. She now serves as chairwoman of the Aging and Long-Term Care committee, Vice-Chair of the Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee and serves on the Veterans and Military Affairs, and Jobs and Economic Growth Committees.
