InfoMark is 52 years old and became licensed to practice law in the State of West Virginia in 1984. Mark's decision to seek the Office of Governor is based upon a commitment he made many years ago to dedicate his professional life to public service, and a recognition that he has the ability to offer the leadership and skills that will be necessary to guide and manage our state government in 2012.

Mark is a resident of Hurricane, and is currently serving in his fourth term as the Prosecuting Attorney of Putnam County. Mark has been married for over eighteen years to his wife Cynthia, who is a second grade school teacher at Hurricane Town Elementary School. Cynthia and Mark are the proud parents of two children, Emma, and Henry.

Mark has been involved in public service for most of his 25 years as a licensed Attorney, serving as an assistant prosecuting attorney, city attorney, and now as an elected prosecuting attorney. Mark also has extensive legal experience in the private sector as an attorney. While in private practice he represented clients in the Coal industry, as well as in the Banking, and Construction fields.

Mark's father was the son of an Italian immigrant. Mark's father was born and raised in New York City, and met Mark's mother while they worked together in Huntington after World War II. Mark's mother was raised on a Putnam County farm that had been owned by her family since the late 1850s. Mark's brother still owns and farms that land. Mark's father operated a business prior to his death which sold replacement parts and assemblies related to the coal mining industry.

Mark Sorsaia started his career as an assistant prosecuting attorney in 1988, and was elected as the Prosecuting Attorney of Putnam County West Virginia in 1996.

Mark has served in leadership positions in various organizations relating to the criminal justice system, and criminal prosecution.
