InfoLynda is a lifelong resident of Northumberland County. She was born and raised in Sunbury and educated in the Shikellamy School District. Lynda kept close ties to the Central Susquehanna Valley by pursuing her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Political Science at nearby Bloomsburg University. While in college, Lynda expanded her studies to include a concentration in Public Administration.

Lynda’s career in public service was launched when she had the chance to work with the PA State House of Representatives as a summer intern in the office of State Representative Merle Phillips. That experience nurtured her desire to devote her professional life to public service in order to help others and make a difference in the community where she grew up. After completing a successful internship, Lynda was offered and accepted a permanent position with Rep. Phillip’s team that has led to 21 years of experience in state government.

Working alongside the veteran lawmaker for more than two decades has afforded Lynda the unique opportunity to educate and immerse herself in all facets of state government. Lynda’s job also required that she work directly with other local, state and federal government officials and their staffs. Rep. Phillips also entrusted Lynda with the important job of serving as a direct contact for his constituents. In that bipartisan role, Lynda learned about the issues that directly affect the lives of Pennsylvania residents and in particular the citizens of the 108th legislative district. Working in tandem with the Rep. Phillips, Lynda helped residents Central Susquehanna Valley resolve their concerns and problems and guided them through the various state agencies and programs that could further assist them. Lynda kept the representative apprised on a daily basis about what his constituents needed and how they felt about pending legislation.

Professionally, Lynda continued to expand her horizons and challenge herself by serving as the Republican State Committee Woman and a local Republican Committee person. She was invited to participate in and later graduated from Leadership Susquehanna Valley, which is a program that provides intense community leadership training. Then in 2009, Lynda had the distinction of serving on the panel for the Junior Achievement Young Women’s Symposium. The forum offers students the opportunity to learn first-hand about career opportunities by engaging in conversations and activities with local business men and women and community and civic leaders.

Personally, Lynda is married to Tom Culver, who is employed in the Finance Department at the Geisinger Health System, Danville. Lynda and Tom are the proud parents of their 9 year old son, Joshua. The family resides in Rockefellar Township along with their dog, Roger.

Since she was a child, Lynda has always been involved in her church and continues to be an active member of the church community. She has served on the Church Board of Directors, the Altar Guild, Parish Life and Pledging Committee. Through the years she has organized and taught Vacation Bible School and is currently a Christian Education Teacher.
