Info | I was born and raised in the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico before moving with my family to Tampa, Florida in search of a better life. After finishing high school in Tampa, Florida, I attended the University of Florida in Gainesville while working two jobs in order to support myself. I eventually transferred to the University of Cincinnati in Ohio and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in International Affairs and Political Science. I then went on to earn a law degree at UC's College of Law. While in Cincinnati, I became very involved with the Hamilton County Republican Party and with the Republican National Hispanic Assembly. I was also appointed to the Ohio Civil Rights Commission by the Republican governor, George Voinovich.
In 1998, and with only a couple hundred dollars to my name, I moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration. There, I worked as a legislative counsel and congressional liaison seeking passage of a self-determination bill for Puerto Rico. This experience allowed me to be intrinsically involved in the legislative process, as I worked closely with Members of Congress for the passage of the bill.
In 1999, I went on to work for Congressman Dan Burton (R-IN), then chairman of the Government Reform and Oversight Committee. My job responsibilities were split between the congressman's personal office where I dealt with several issues including health and transportation and the committee office where I investigated potential conflicts of interest in the FDA and CDC committees that mandate vaccinations for children.
During this time, I always remained very active in the Republican Party, eventually founding the Young Hispanic Republican Association, an organization designed to help young generations of conservative Hispanics get involved in politics. I was also appointed by Virginia's Governor Jim Gilmore to serve in the Virginia Council on Human Rights.
Since moving to Pennsylvania 5 years ago, I have focused my time on raising my children, ages 6 & 9, as well as getting involved in the community. Among other projects, I directed the Kids Voting program at the New Hope Solebury School District (elementary schools) during the 2008 elections. I am currently the Republican Party Committeewoman for Upper Solebury Township. A life-long sports enthusiast and former national Judo champion in Puerto Rico, I still enjoy playing competitive tennis and watching college football.
