| Info | Bernie was reared in central Arkansas, attending elementary and junior high school in Jacksonville, Arkansas, and graduating from Jacksonville High School. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and upon graduation was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Force. His 29-year Air Force career took him throughout the United States and on permanent and temporary duty in Europe, Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East.
He retired from the Air Force in 2003 at the rank of brigadier general and returned to Northwest Arkansas. He and Debbie, his wife of 38 years, have six children and nine grandchildren, all residing in Northwest Arkansas.
Bernie has never held elected office and makes clear that he does not desire a career in politics.
