Info | My wife Cheryl and I grew up in Charleston. My father worked at the paper mill in North Charleston for 30 years. Cheryl’s father ran a garage in Mt. Pleasant with his brothers for over 40 years. Our parents taught both of us the same lessons that many of you learned as children.
The lessons I learned growing up were reinforced by my teachers and leaders at The Citadel and led me to become a prosecutor in Charleston when I graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School.
I have served South Carolina as an Assistant Solicitor, Deputy Solicitor, Special Assistant United States Attorney and Chief Deputy Attorney General. I have prosecuted hundreds of criminals, ranging from drug traffickers to murderers, robbers, rapists and child molesters, as well as corrupt public officials and professionals.
I have learned from, and managed, some of the best prosecutors in South Carolina. I have also worked as a private attorney and a securities professional for a major international corporation. I have represented a Governor of this State, a Presidential Campaign, and several major corporations, and have traveled to most areas of the United States.
My travels confirmed for me that there truly is no place like home. Cheryl and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 23 years. We have a daughter who is a senior at the University of South Carolina, a son in his first year at the United States Naval Academy, and a son and daughter in grade school in Columbia.
My experiences lead me to the firm conviction that it will take hard work and honest dedicated leadership to meet the challenges ahead of us so that we can leave our children an even better South Carolina in which to prosper.
I am committed to working with the Prosecutors and Law Enforcement Officers of this State to stem the tide of crime we face and to ensure there is no safe haven for gangs, repeat violent offenders, sexual predators, and the so called professionals that steal from, and take advantage of, our relatives and neighbors.
