Info | (nephew of Moses Bledso Corwin and Thomas Corwin), a Representative from Illinois; born in Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio, January 12, 1818; attended private schools; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1839 and practiced in Wilmington, Ohio; member of the Ohio house of representatives in 1846 and 1847; served in the State senate 1847-1849; moved to Peru, La Salle County, Ill., in 1857; member of the Illinois house of representatives and served as speaker; elected as a Republican to the Forty-third Congress (March 4, 1873-March 3, 1875); was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1874 to the Forty-fourth Congress; resumed the practice of his profession in Peru, Ill., until his death there on June 15, 1879.
