| Info | MOON, John Wesley, a Representative from Michigan; born near Ypsilanti, Wayne County, Mich., January 18, 1836; attended the common schools; moved to northern Michigan in 1854 and engaged in the lumber business; settled in Muskegon, Muskegon County, Mich., in 1856 and engaged in the manufacture of lumber and in banking; held the offices of supervisor, township treasurer, and president of the village; elected to the State senate in 1884 and reelected in 1886; elected president of the Muskegon Savings Bank in 1887; member of the board of education of Muskegon in 1891; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-third Congress (March 4, 1893-March 3, 1895); was not a candidate for renomination in 1894; resumed former business activities; died in Muskegon, Mich., April 5, 1898; interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
