Info | WOOD, Thomas Jefferson, a Representative from Indiana; born in Athens County, Ohio, September 30, 1844; moved with his parents to Vigo County, Ind., in 1853; attended the common schools; taught school two years; studied law in Terre Haute, Ind., and was graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1867; moved to Crown Point, Lake County, Ind., in November 1867 and practiced law; corporation treasurer 1870-1872; prosecuting attorney of Lake County 1872-1876; member of the State senate 1878-1882; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-eighth Congress (March 4, 1883-March 3, 1885); unsuccessful candidate for reelection; resumed the practice of law; died in Crown Point, Ind., October 13, 1908; interment in Maplewood Cemetery.
