InfoRafael is a first-generation American. He was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia. He is the first in his family to attend and graduate from college. He graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor's in Business Administration with a double major in Management and Finance.

Rafael Lopez has been active in Prince William County politics since 2000. In 2002, Rafael was appointed Dumfries Zoning Administrator, with responsibility for code enforcement in the town. With this appointment Rafael's interest and experience in public service grew, and in 2004 he was elected to a four year term on the Dumfries Town Council. Rafael continues to be active in Prince William County politics, and has supported several candidates.

Rafael Lopez was born on October 24, 1978 in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The eldest of three children born to Hugo and Carmen Lopez. Rafael was 9 years old when he came with his family came to settle in Arlington County, Virginia.

Rafael attended public schools in Arlington County and in 1997 graduated with an advanced diploma from Wakefield High School. He graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double major in Finance and management.

In 2002 he became the Dumfries Town Zoning Administrator and Code Enforcement officer.

In 2004 at the young age of 25 he decided to run for Dumfries Town Council. Rafael, a new comer to the Dumfries political scene recieved the highest number of votes on election day. Rafael served a full term and the Town thanked him for his service in a ceremony.

In 2008 Rafael did not run for re-election. He became a strong supporter and Treasurer for Willie J. Toney who won election in fiercely contested race.

Rafael is married to Cinthia and they have two daughters Michelle and Giselle. They reside in the Town of Dumfries. They attend St. Francis of Assisi in Triangle, Virginia.
