Bill Owens has devoted his life to creating jobs, bringing economic development to Upstate New York, and serving his country. Bill Owens is an Air Force veteran who served as a Captain at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base. He comes from a family with a long military tradition. His great grandfather served in the Civil War, his uncle in World War I and his father served in World War II. And while politicians have talked about creating jobs, Democrat Bill Owens has spent his career doing the actual work. Bill is a North Country community leader who helped bring over 2,000 jobs to the region by leading the redevelopment of the Plattsburgh Air Force Base and helping recruit businesses from Canada to Upstate New York.

In Congress, Owens will take that experience and make local job creation his top priority. He'll fight to keep Fort Drum strong, attract new business, protect our farmers and their families, invest in jobs programs locally including training and placement programs for veterans, and attract alternative energy industries to create good-paying "green collar" jobs.

Bill has also served his community on the boards of many civic organizations. He is currently Managing Partner at the law firm Stafford, Owens, Piller, Murnane, & Trombley, PLLC, and has practiced for 30 years. Throughout his career, Bill has worked to encourage business opportunities for the state and for Upstate New Yorkers who depend on good paying jobs.

Bill and Jane, his wife of 36 years, raised their three children in Plattsburgh and are the proud grandparents of three with a fourth due this fall. Together they are working to create jobs so that all of our children have a chance to work and raise a family right here in Upstate New York.
