| Info | Steven grew up in the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and attended local public schools and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He quickly applied his energies and strong work ethic into identifying problems with how the biotechnology field worked. He created the Mitos Group that provided cutting-edge solutions to the industry. Under Steven's guidance, Mitos developed six marketable patents all directed at improving biotech companies' efficiency in manufacturing. His products allowed local employers such as Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Wyeth and others to make their products more quickly and efficiently, getting much needed medicines and vaccines into the hands of doctors and their patients at a lower price.
Steven’s companies created over 40 quality jobs in our region. All employees were provided fully covered health insurance. Steven recognized at an early age that as a small business owner he had a responsibility to take care of the employees and team that enabled Mitos to achieve so much. Even in the tough years as he built his company up, Steven honored this commitment to his employees whom he saw as family.
In 2007, Steven sold the Mitos group of companies to Parker Hannifin, a Fortune 500 company.
Steven continued to apply his energy and enthusiasm into helping other local small start-ups reach the American dream. Steven knew that not only did local companies need financial support, they needed collaboration and mentoring to maximize their growth and continue creating high quality jobs.
With this concept in mid, Steven co-found DreamIt Ventures, a company that provides aspiring entrepreneurs with funding, pro-bono services from leading law firms and accounting firms, mentoring from seasoned entrepreneurs, and a creative environment to bring innovative business ideas to market. DreamIt Ventures is based in the region and allows entrepreneurs to not only turn their ideas into successful businesses, but to build these organizations right here in our region. In their short history, DreamIt Ventures has helped almost 100 entrepreneurs and small business owners gain access to the necessary tools helping them towards their dreams.
For his work with DreamIt Ventures, in 2008 Steve was selected as a member of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 40 under 40, as well as being named its Entrepreneur of the Year. Most recently Steven was awarded the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship to build bridges internationally in small business communities to drive job creation and economic development.
Steven and his wife, Nicole, live in Phoenixville with their daughter, and are expecting their second child this summer.
