Info | Andrew Rosenberg is proud to call Virginia home. A resident of Old Town Alexandria, Andy has lived in Northern Virginia for thirteen years. Currently an associate in the Washington, DC law firm of Patton Boggs LLP, Andy divides his time between a substantial, growing legal practice and volunteer activities supporting charitable and non-profit organizations throughout the Northern Virginia region.
Andy has enjoyed a distinguished career in Washington in a range of policy-related positions. In 1990, just after earning a B.A. from Amherst College in history and Russian studies, Andy joined the staff of Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) as a legislative aide. In that role, he regularly advised Senator Kennedy on a range of domestic issues, including federal housing policy, veterans affairs and issues important to Native Americans. While on the Senator's Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Andy acquired a strong understanding of the critical health care issues facing Congress-including Medicare, Medicaid, prescription drug benefits and the plight of the uninsured-and how those issues are addressed on Capitol Hill.
In 1993, Andy joined The National Trust for Historic Preservation, where he helped design and direct a grass-roots political campaign to promote a national pro-preservation agenda. In 1994, he returned to graduate school, earning his law degree and a Masters in urban and environmental planning, both from the University of Virginia. In 1997, he joined Patton Boggs as a member of the firm's Public Policy practice, focusing on health care, technology, appropriations, education, and election law.
Andy is extremely active in civic organizations. Locally, he has served as a board member and speakers bureau president for the Alexandria, Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross, and served as community outreach chair for the organization's annual Waterfront Festival. He has been active in fundraising for the Historic Alexandria Foundation and is a member of the Old Town Civic Association, Sierra Club of Virginia, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Greater Washington Jewish Federation, WETA public television, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. He has also been involved with the New Democratic Network, the Democratic Lawyers Committee, and YdemsCan, an organization committed to supporting Democratic candidates for office who are under forty years of age.
Andy also represents a diverse range of pro bono clients, such as the National Family Caregivers Association, Jean Massieu School for the Deaf, the Mattaponi Indian Tribe, the Society for Animal Protective Legislation, the Thurgood Marshall Academy, and City Year (an AmeriCorps program).
