InfoRichard Cash was born in 1960 in Jacksonville, Florida. His family lived several years in Columbia, SC, and Richmond, VA, before returning to Jacksonville in 1968. He is the youngest of four children raised by Tom and Audrey Cash, who both grew up on farms in rural Georgia during the Great Depression. Tom was an Assistant Vice-President of CSX and Audrey was a public high school teacher for 20 years. Richard graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1978. All Cash siblings now live in the Upstate, three in the third district.

Richard married the former Marcia Williams in April of 1985. Marcia is one of four children raised by Pierce and Jackie Williams of Greenville. She is a graduate of Christ Church Episcopal School and has a Business Systems degree from the University of Georgia. God has blessed them with eight children, ranging in age from 5 to 20 years.

Richard graduated in 1982 from Furman University, with magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors, earning a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration. After graduating, Richard worked for Liberty Life Insurance Company as a computer programmer/analyst from 1982 to 1987.

Richard attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts from 1987 to 1991, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Masters degree in Theology, and was selected to the Phi Alpha Chi honor society. While in seminary, Richard worked as a contract programmer for Fidelity Investments.

Richard and Marcia returned to the Upstate in 1991 and Richard entered pro-life work full time. He organized the first Life Chain in Greenville, involving over 5,000 participants from more than 100 churches. From 1992-1999 Richard worked for Pastors For Life, a pro-life organization of pastors and churches in upstate South Carolina.

In 1999 Richard purchased a neighborhood ice cream truck, which he used to launch Sweet Memories Ice Cream LLC, which has now expanded to a fleet of 13 yellow and green trucks servicing local neighborhoods in the Upstate. In 2003, Richard expanded his entrepreneurial endeavors by opening Road Runners Autos LLC, a used vehicle business, located on Highway 153 in Powdersville.

Richard and Marcia are home schooling their children, using a classical Christian approach. Laura, the oldest child, is in the honors college at USC, studying nursing. Colby, the oldest son, has been accepted to the honors college at Clemson, with plans to study engineering.

Richard and Marcia are members of Christ Church Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anderson. They are both actively involved, serving on church committees and teaching classes.

The entire Cash family enjoys sports and outdoor activities. Richard has been a volunteer soccer and basketball coach for nine years, working with the Pickens County YMCA and Tri-County Soccer Club, but mostly with Easley Home Educators, where he also serves as Athletic Director. When not engaged in sports, the family enjoys cookouts, boating, and family walks together.
