InfoEugene E.T. Lawrence is running to serve the people of the 4th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly. Lawrence was a member of the Gloucester Township Council until 2006.

Councilman Lawrence is a former Executive Board member of the NAACP. He also served as Chairman of the Camden Chamber of Commerce, as well as on the boards of Citizens For Tax Reform, the Gloucester Township Economic Development Corporation, and the World Affairs Council.

By expanding the participation of suburban businesses into the City's Children's Holiday Spending Spree and working with suburban soccer experts, he helped to create the Camden Youth Soccer Club and worked with the J.C.C. to improve adult literacy and with the children of Camden through the Book Exchange reading program. For these and other efforts to turn diversity back into a positive force, Councilman Lawrence was honored with the KYW "Real People Real Commitment" award.

Councilman Lawrence also received recognition for serving the Boy Scouts of America for over 45 years. For his efforts to include minorities in the scouting experience and working with them to encourage advancement, Councilman Lawrence received the prestigious "Whitney Young" award.
