Info | HUBLEY, Edward Burd, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Reading, Pa., in 1792; attended the public schools; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1820 and commenced practice in Reading; afterwards moved to Orwigsburg, the county seat of Schuylkill County; elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-fourth Congress and reelected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress (March 4, 1835-March 3, 1839); canal commissioner of Pennsylvania 1839-1842; appointed on November 8, 1842, a commissioner to adjust and settle certain claims under the treaty with the Cherokee Indians of 1835; resumed the practice of law in Reading, Pa.; moved to Philadelphia, Pa., where he died February 23, 1856; interment in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Pa.
