Info | GREEN, Henry Dickinson, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Reading, Berks County, Pa., May 3, 1857; attended the public schools, and was graduated from the Reading High School in 1872 and Yale College in 1877; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1879 and commenced practice in Reading, Pa.; member of the State house of representatives 1883-1886; served in the State senate 1889-1896; captain of Company G, Ninth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, in the war with Spain in 1898; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1900; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-sixth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Daniel Ermentrout; reelected to the Fifty-seventh Congress and served from November 7, 1899, to March 3, 1903; was not a candidate for renomination; editor of the Reading Telegram 1903-1912 and of the Reading Times 1911-1913; resumed the practice of law in Reading, Pa.; also admitted to the bar in Texas in 1920; engaged in oil operation in the midcontinent oil field; died in Reading, Pa., on December 29, 1929; interment in Arlington National Cemetery.
