Info | Noted civil rights attorney, former member of the New York state legislature, author, radio host, political activist, and conspiracy theorist.
Notable clients include James Earl Ray, Jim Jones, the Citizens Commission of Inquiry, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, the Liberty Lobby, the American Indian Movement, and himself in a libel suit brought by E. Howard Hunt.
Author of numerous books on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, including Rush to Judgement, A Citizen's Dissent, and Plausible Denial. Co-author, with famed stand-up comic and activist Dick Gregory, of Code Name “Zorro”, which was later republished as Murder in Memphis, an investigation into the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Elected to the New York House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1960, while simultaneously acting as New York campaign manager of Kennedy for President. Served one term, during which he was arrested as a Freedom Rider in Mississippi. Defeated in a Democratic congressional primary in 1962. Vice-presidential running mate of Freedom & Peace Party candidate Dick Gregrory in 1968.
