InfoMy name is Martin Samaniego and I have lived in Glendale for 20 years. I was born and raised in New Mexico and am a graduate of Hatch Valley High School. My 13 brothers and sister also are graduates of the public school system. I then completed a degree in business and education from California State University in Fresno. I recently retired from Arizona Public Service Company after 25 years of service in community development.

I believe that the future of our family, community, state and country is based on each child receiving the best education possible. It is for this reason that I want to serve on the GESD Board. My parents instilled in me their commitment to community service and throughout my adult life I continue to give back to the community by serving on different boards. I have served on the YMCA, United Way, Salvation Army, Friendly House, Chicanos Por La Causa, and Glendale Foundation Board which I founded seven years ago and currently chair. The Glendale Foundation Board supports education, diversity, and business development to help teachers and schools. I also served as a Glendale City Councilman from 1996-2000. I firmly believe in community service and can think of no better way to serve than through a school board in helping our children get a quality public education.

I believe that by serving on the board we play a role in attracting and retaining quality teachers by making sure teachers are part of the decision making and have adequate resources, training, and program continuity and sustainability to guide our children. Our children are our future. With a good education we can ensure that each child has a solid foundation to become a successful adult who is prepared for the world of work.

I am ready and excited to serve the Glendale Elementary School District as a board member and therefore I ask you to cast your vote for me, Martin Samaniego.
