InfoI am pleased to announce that I intend to seek the open seat of District Three Supervisor on the November 2008 ballot. And I am gratified that Arthur Chang and Al Baccari have agreed to be co-chairs of my campaign.

I have lived all my life in what we now call District Three. My love and respect for our wonderful city and this, its most beautiful corner, is why I seek this office.

As a sixth generation San Franciscan, I will represent our District and all of San Francisco in the spirit of my ancestors, such as my great-great-great grandfather who arrived in the village of Yerba Buena (San Francisco) in 1776 to work on establishing the Presidio and the construction of Mission Dolores, and my grandmother, Dorothy Erskine, founder of the 50-year-old Greenbelt Alliance.

For the past 2 years I have been President of the District Three Democratic Club and served as Vice President the two years before that. I have been involved in numerous community activities throughout District Three. I write a weekly column for a San Francisco daily newspaper focusing on the history of Northeastern San Francisco. I founded the North Beach Merchants Association and have been its President. I am also counsel to the Piazza Saint Francis Association, founded by Poet Laureate Lawrence Ferlinghetti, which is designing a beautiful plaza in the heart of North Beach.

The core of my platform will be "Safe, Clean, Green Streets for a Livable City": Our streets play a leading role in the culture of San Francisco. I speak not only of a good physical environment, but also of meaningful social intercourse and cohesion that make for a livable city.
