InfoThe Honorable Caspar W. Weinberger served as Secretary of Defense from 1981 to 1987. Mr. Weinberger was first appointed to public office in 1968, when Governor Reagan asked him to serve as director of finance of California. In 1972, he was appointed by President Richard Nixon as director of the OMB and, in 1973, President Nixon appointed Mr. Weinberger as secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare.

Mr. Weinberger has served in the United States Army, in the Assembly of the California State Legislature, and as director of Pepsico, Inc., among numerous other public and private positions. His many awards include the Medal of Freedom with Distinction. Currently, Mr. Weinberger serves as chairman of Forbes magazine.
