Info | McCOID, Moses Ayers, a Representative from Iowa; born near Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio, November 5, 1840; attended the public schools, Fairfield University, and Washington (now Washington and Jefferson) College, Washington, Pa.; studied law in Fairfield, Iowa; was admitted to the bar in 1861 and commenced practice in Fairfield; during the Civil War enlisted as a private in Company E, Second Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Infantry, May 6, 1861; was commissioned a second lieutenant; resumed the practice of law in Fairfield; district attorney of the sixth judicial district of Iowa in 1867 and 1871; member of the State senate 1872-1879; elected as a Republican to the Forty-sixth, Forty-seventh, and Forty-eighth Congresses (March 4, 1879-March 3, 1885); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1884; again resumed the practice of law; died in Fairfield, Iowa, May 19, 1904; interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
