Casamassima is quick to point out his candidacy is built on a platform that encompasses all of the major issues confronting America. He said one problem with both the Democrat and the Republican presidential candidates is they are either life-time professional politicians or millionaires. Casamassima is a true political outsider.
'I am running for president because I decided to stop complaining about this country and do something positive,' Casamassima said.
As far as this country's budget woes are concerned, Casamassima said the most important question regarding the federal budget has still not been asked.
'The real issue is what do we want to spend and what do we want to raise in taxes,' Casamassima said.
If he is elected to office, Casamassima plans to completely overhaul the welfare system. He said the federal government needs to stop giving block grants of money to states to dole out. Instead, he wants to send private organizations like the United Way direct charity grants because they are more efficient at helping the needy than state and federal agencies.
'I really consider our present welfare approach as a way to intensify our poverty cycle,' Casamassima said.
