InfoJane Corwin is running for Congress because our nation is in crisis. To meet the challenge of huge deficits, reckless spending and a failing economy, she offers a no-nonsense approach to get our nation back on a fiscally and economically sound track, based on her thirty-six years of private sector experience.

As a member of the entrepreneurial family that founded The Talking Phonebook, Jane Corwin helped grow this Buffalo area company to almost 700 employees before it was sold to Hearst Publishing in 2004.

Jane started in the family business as a teenager, working out of the family garage to deliver phone books to residences after school and on weekends. During summers and holiday vacations from college, she could be found working in the family business offices.

After receiving a Bachelors Degree from the State University of New York at Albany and a Masters in Business Administration Degree from Pace University, Jane returned to Western New York to become a Vice President directing the company’s Marketing.

Jane later became a member of the company’s Board of Directors, serving as Secretary and Treasurer, where she helped develop the company’s overall strategy which resulted in sales growth of more than 1,200 percent.

As a leader in a local small business, Jane saw firsthand the devastating impact government can have on small businesses when it comes to creating jobs. Fed up with upstate New York’s failing economy because of failing leadership out of Albany, she decided to enter public life in 2008, running in a Republican Primary for a seat in the New York State Assembly. She won that Primary and the General Election and made an immediate impact bringing her private sector experience to the Assembly.

During her short time in the Assembly, Jane Corwin has stood firm for her principles of fiscal conservatism, lawmaker accountability, and support for small businesses. Her interest in creating jobs in Western New York led to her being named the Ranking member of the Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions Committee. She also became the Chairwoman of the Assembly Minority Manufacturing Task Force, traveling across New York to gain input from small business leaders on state law and its effects on businesses and local economies.

Her fiscally sound voting record in the Assembly placed her second overall in the New York State Conservative Party’s Annual Rankings for members of the Assembly in both 2009 and 2010. And, she scored a perfect one hundred percent rating from Unshackle Upstate, a pro-reform, pro-jobs business organization.

In addition to her private sector business experience, Jane is an active member of our community. She is the President and Founder of the Philip M. and Jane Lewis Corwin Foundation, which provides direct funding for educational, medical and religious charities to benefit children. She has also served as the President of the Josephine Goodyear Committee at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo; Confirmation Leader at Zion Lutheran Church; and as a member of the Grant Review Committee for Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. Her other past affiliations include numerous charities, the Ledgeview Elementary School PTO, and the Boy and Girl Scouts of Buffalo and Erie County.

Jane and her husband Phil have been married for 21 years. They are the parents of three children (Melanie, Kellie and William) and reside in Clarence, NY.
