As Past President of the Belton Chamber of Commerce and the Bel-Ray Sunrise Lions Club, Molendorp's commitment to North Cass County civic, business, and charitable efforts is longstanding. A respected business owner, Molendorp belongs to the Raymore and Belton Chambers of Commerce, The National Federation of Independent Business and was named the Raymore Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month in October, 2004.
He is a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles Aerie 4492, The Missouri State Historical Society, The University of Missouri Alumni Association and the University of Missouri Jefferson Club. He is a lifelong member of the Belton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and serves as a member of the Board of Elders.
In 2003, Ingram's Magazine named Molendorp "40 Under 40"; one of the Kansas City Area's most influential citizens under the age of 40. He is an Eagle Scout.
Born July 5, 1969, Chris is the son of Gene and Alice Molendorp, Peculiar, MO. The example of hard work was learned from his parents. The first to attend college from their respective families, the Molendorp's were public school teachers in the Belton and Grandview, MO School Districts. Wishing to start a business they formed Molendorp Insurance in a small storefront on North Scott Avenue in Belton in 1977. Chris joined the family business in 1997 and assumed ownership in 2004. Mrs. Molendorp still works in the family business to this day.
Chris is married to Julie Molendorp, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Wolfenbarger of Belton. She serves on the Board of Directors of Kentucky View Homes Association and is active in the Belton Christian Church and the Kentucky Trail PTA. They have two sons, Tyler Christopher, 9, and Blake William, 8. The boys attend Kentucky Trail Elementary School in Belton and enjoy playing catch with their Dad.
