Info | BUNDY, Hezekiah Sanford, a Representative from Ohio; born in Marietta, Ohio, August 15, 1817; moved with his parents to Athens County in 1819; attended the public schools; engaged in agricultural pursuits; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1850 and practiced until 1860, when he became engaged in the iron business; member of the State house of representatives in 1848 and 1850; served in the State senate in 1855; unsuccessful candidate for election in 1862 to the Thirty-eighth Congress; elected as a Republican to the Thirty-ninth Congress (March 4, 1865-March 3, 1867); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1866; elected to the Forty-third Congress (March 4, 1873-March 3, 1875); chairman, Committee on Mileage (Forty-third Congress); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1874 to the Forty-fourth Congress; moved to Wellston, Jackson County, in 1887 and resumed the practice of law; elected to the Fifty-third Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of William H. Enochs and served from December 4, 1893, to March 3, 1895; died in Wellston, Jackson County, Ohio, December 12, 1895; interment in the City Cemetery.
