Info | Andria Danine ("Lard") Simckes was born to a working class family dedicated to education. Through academic success and hard work, she graduated at the top of her class and earned degrees from Brown University and Washington University School of Law. Her life and career path have given her an opportunity to develop a unique perspective that embraces multiple cultures and communities.
While in college, Andria co-founded an organization uniting women of color, called Brown Sisters United. She coordinated the Brown University Tutoring Program and served on the University Finance Board. At Washington University, she served as Treasurer of the Black Law Student Association.
After law school, Andria has dedicated her time to public service, community organization, economic development, and her family. As Comptroller of Win '96-Missouri's Coordinated Campaign, she oversaw the $1.6 million budget for that successful election year. After serving as a legal aide to Gov. Mel Carnahan, she worked in the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) as the statewide coordinator for the Caring Communities Initiative. Andria later was DED's Area Director for the Metropolitan St. Louis region and played a pivotal role in resolving the 1999 shutdown of highway I-70 by bringing together fragmented interests to develop the Construction Prep Center. She then went on to serve as Executive Director of the St. Louis Regional Empowerment Zone, where she was responsible for $18.9 million in available funds and $130 million in bonding authority.
In 2001, Andria Simckes chose to withdraw from full time employment to focus on her family. With her husband, Elan Simckes, a physician specializing in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Fertility, they have three children together and share in the raising of Elan's daughter from his first marriage. Continuing the tradition of her family, Andria has served on the Board of Directors of her children's schools, B'nai Amoona Early Childhood Center and Solomon Schechter Day School. For years she has been an active board member of Care and Counseling, an inter-faith based counseling center, and she now serves as a board member of Jewish Family and Children Services and its Financial Development Committee.
Andria currently resides in Creve Coeur, MO with Elan and their children Liam, 6; Naava, 4; Ayden, 2. Their oldest, Maayan, attends Tufts University in Boston, Mass. Andria Danine is affiliated with Kodner Watkins Muchnick Weigley, L.C. in Clayton, MO. She now returns to public service with the strength of her diverse experience, heritage and family to lead during our country's time of change and transformation.
