Info | Todd Platts is a Member of the United States Congress, representing the 19th District of Pennsylvania. Elected to the House of Representatives in 2000, Congressman Platts serves the residents of Adams, Cumberland, and York Counties.
Within the House of Representatives, Congressman Platts serves on three standing committees and one special committee. His standing committee assignments include the Committee for Transportation and Infrastructure, the Committee for Education and the Workforce, and the Committee for Government Reform. Congressman Platts was elected by his peers to be the Freshman Class Representative on the Republican Policy Committee.
Congressman Platts serves the 19th District in other ways as well. His community board appointments include serving as an Honorary Board Member for Olivia's House and on the Board for the York County Chapter of the American Red Cross. In the past, Todd was active as the Co-Chairman of the York County Transportation Coalition, as a member of the York Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Statewide Children's Health Insurance Advisory Committee, the Central Pennsylvania Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar, and Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania.
A lifelong resident of York, Pennsylvania, Congressman Platts is a member of York Suburban High School's graduating class of 1980. He continued his education locally, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in 1984. He then attended Pepperdine University School of Law, and graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1991.
Congressman Platts started his career as an attorney and an associate with the law firm of Barley, Snyder, Senft, & Cohen. He left the firm to begin his career in public service in 1993 when he was elected to serve the people of York County as a State Representative in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. He was re-elected to his post three times, serving in that role until his 2000 election to the United States Congress.
Congressman Platts is a devoted husband to wife Leslie, and a proud father to their six-year-old son T.J., and four-year-old daughter Kelsey.
