InfoMarilyn De Mara Clancy has contributed significantly to the city of Chicago through her professional expertise in tourism, marketing, and communications. She is currently the president of Clancy & Company, a communications management and marketing firm which provides services to various clients, including the Illinois Bureau of Tourism, the Sears Tower Skydeck, the North Pier Festival Market and the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Ms. Clancy has also served as the past executive director of the Chicago Tourism Council. As the first director of this official tourism promotion agency for the city of Chicago, she designed and carried out a marketing plan, administered a $1 million dollar budget, and represented the Council within the media and tourism community in the U.S. and abroad.

Ms. Clancy’s public service has included running as the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Congress’ Sixth District, Illinois in the 1976 election. She also served as a special assistant to U.S. Senators Adlai Stevenson and Alan Dixon from 1978-1981. Ms. Clancy’s community experience includes serving on the allocations committee of the Community Chest, the board of International Women Associates, the marketing committee of the Illinois Arts Alliance, the board of the River North Association, the membership committee of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, and the board of Illinois Bureau of Tourism. She authored the book Chicago and her presentations include , “A Literary Springtime In Chicago”, “Everything You Need to Know About Living in Chicago”, “Chicago History and Heritage” and “All Things Chicago.”
