InfoGeorge Herbert Walker, Jr. (24 November 1905– November 1977) was an American businessman connected to the accomplished Bush family. He was one of the original owners of the New York Mets, which he cofounded in 1960 with Joan Whitney Payson. [1]

Walker's parents were wealthy American businessman George Herbert Walker and his wife Lucretia "Loulie" (Wear) Walker (1874–1961). He married Mary Carter (20 November 1905 – 5 September 1998) on 29 October 1927, and they were the parents of three children, including U.S. Ambassador to Hungary George Herbert Walker III. He is the uncle of President George Herbert Walker Bush, to whom he was extremely close. "Uncle Herbie" helped sponsor President George H.W. Bush's entry into the oil business in the 1950s. He was a member of Yale's Skull and Bones Society in 1927, as were his brother-in-law Prescott Sheldon Bush (S&B 1917); brothers Dr. John Mercer Walker, Sr. (S&B 1931) and Louis Walker (S&B 1936); and nephew George Herbert Walker Bush (S&B 1947)
