| Info | Tariq grew up in Staunton, VA, recieved his Bachelors Degree from Radford University, and currently works for Wachovia's Corporate & Investment Bank as a Risk Manager. Like more and more young professionals, Tariq decided not to move to wherever the job required after college, but instead decided to move to the city he most wanted to be in - Charlotte - and found his career shortly after. Tariq stays very active in the community as a City Council elected member of both the Community Relations Committee as well as the Business Advisory Committee. Tariq is also a strong advocate for young professionals and stays active in his roles as a founding member and steering committee member of Engage Charlotte within the Chamber of Commerce, the co-chair and creator of Voice (a political education and connection group for young professionals in Charlotte), and is the President and Chief Visionary Officer of CYViC (Charlotte Young Visionaries Corporation). Tariq also stays very involved in District 1, currently serving his second term as Colonial Village Homeowners Association Vice President. Tariq also manages various grassroots efforts for political campaigns in Charlotte, is a member of YMCA committees in Charlotte, and is a guest lecturer at UNCC. Tariq enjoys watching sports, playing golf and tennis, playing all musical instruments (from guitar to trumpet), reading, writing, watching movies, spending time with his wife and friends, and always learning new things.
