Info | Maj. Gen. John Batiste
From March 2001 to June 2002 he worked with Paul Wolfowitz, and was involved in the very early planning stages of the Iraq war.[1] In spring 2002 Eric Shinseki chose Batiste to be commander of the First Infantry Division of the United States Army, which was deployed to Iraq in December 2003, during the war.
He has since called for the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld in 2006 and despite describing himself as a "lifelong Republican" endorsed a Democratic takeover of Congress in 2006.
