InfoBorn and raised in Jersey City, Charles Catrillo is a graduate of Saint Peter's Prep, Seton Hall University, and the Seton Hall University School of Law. Upon his graduation from Law School, Mr. Catrillo was awarded the Whitney-Bancroft Publishers Award for outstanding legal scholarship.

Mr. Catrillo began his legal career as Special Counsel for the Jersey City Department of Finance, and later became the Administrator of the Jersey City Municipal Court.

Mr. Catrillo also has served as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice and Constitutional Law at New Jersey City University, teaching a variety of legal courses for approximately twelve years.

In 1985, Mr. Catrillo was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly, representing the 32nd Legislative District, which includes the northern portion of Jersey City, North Bergen, Secaucus, Kearny, Harrison and East Newark. He was the Vice-Chairman of the Assembly's Law and Public Safety Committee, which is responsible for all criminal statutes for the State of New Jersey. Mr. Catrillo was also a member of the Assembly Appropriations Committee, and was instrumental in the formation of two New Jersey State budgets, both of which resulted in budget surpluses.

While in the Assembly, Mr. Catrillo was the author of a State Statute, which championed the rights of Senior Citizens by allowing them to continue to live in their apartment even though their buildings became condos.

In 1987, Mr. Catrillo was chosen "Legislator of the Year" by the New Jersey Foster Parents Association for his outstanding efforts on behalf of foster children. In 1988, Mr. Catrillo was named Municipal Judge of the Borough of East Newark, New Jersey.

In 1991, Mr. Catrillo was appointed by Governor James Florio to be a Commissioner on the New Jersey Victims of Crime Compensation Board. For nearly six years, Mr. Catrillo dispersed monetary compensation to crime victims throughout New Jersey.

Upon completion of his term as a State Commissioner, Mr. Catrillo became the Chief Prosecutor for the City of Jersey City, and, in 1998, convicted more criminals than any other Prosecutor in the State of New Jersey.

In 2001, Mr. Catrillo was appointed to his current position as Director of Economic Development for Jersey City, overseeing the tremendous growth of the Jersey City waterfront. Under Mr. Catrillo's direction, Jersey City's work force grew by nearly 15,000 jobs in under two years.

Mr. Catrillo is also the proud father of a daughter, Elizabeth, who is an executive for the firm of Morgan Stanley. Mr. Catrillo continues to live in Jersey City in the house in which he was born, built by his grandfather, Antonio Statile, in 1922.
