Info New Haven-Rocky Point MLA, Leader of the Green Party of PEI, and Leader of the Official Opposition, Peter Bevan-Baker is seeking re-election in District 17, New Haven-Rocky Point, in the 2023 provincial election.

“It is a true honour to represent my community and bring my neighbours’ concerns, ideas and issues to the Legislature. This beautiful district is where I practiced dentistry for years in my rural clinic, where my four children grew up, and where my wife Ann and I call home,” says Bevan-Baker.
In May 2015 Bevan-Baker became the proud MLA for Kellys Cross-Cumberland. In doing so, he became the first Green Party member of the Provincial Legislature. On April 23, 2019, Bevan-Baker was re-elected in the newly established district of New Haven-Rocky Point, and with a caucus of eight, he formed the first Green Official Opposition in Canada.

As Leader of the Official Opposition, Bevan-Baker has fought for better public healthcare for Islanders, stronger housing regulations, protection of our shorelines from reckless development, and more transparency in government, and has advocated for climate policy that helps Islanders transition to greener solutions without putting the financial burden on them.
“This province we all love is facing some significant challenges right now - in healthcare, housing, affordability and the environment,” says Bevan-Baker. “These issues need to be addressed immediately, in fact they should have been dealt with years ago. The underlying cause of all of this is a void in leadership. I always love connecting with people in District 17 and across the Island and I look forward to sharing with them our bold plan for building a stronger Island together.”

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Bevan-Baker lived in Newfoundland and Ontario before arriving in Hampton, Prince Edward Island in 2002. Bevan-Baker has always been active in his community. Whether it was directing plays at his local elementary school, chairing the board of the Victoria Playhouse, or coaching soccer, he has always felt and acted on a strong sense of community responsibility.
